Every knitting project tells a story, and my crocus hat is no exception. Some years ago, I had the opportunity to be a tester knitter for this pattern (designer Ekaterina Filippova-Blanchard), which I gifted afterward. At the time, it was a rewarding experience, but I always had the desire to make one just for myself.
This fall, I decided it was time. Inspired by the delicate beauty of the crocus flower, I wanted to recreate the design, but this time with a personal twist. I knitted it in size XL, making it longer and a bit slouchy to give it that relaxed, cozy look I’ve been wanting. The process was both calming and meditative. As I worked with each stitch, I felt like I was weaving together not just yarn, but moments of peace and reflection.
Now, as the weather turns cooler, my crocus hat is ready to accompany me on walks, reminding me to pause and enjoy the little moments. It’s not just about keeping warm; it’s about embracing the comfort of self-care through creativity. This hat isn’t just a piece of clothing; it’s a symbol of taking time for myself amidst the busy days, and this time, I get to keep it.
